On Saturday, me, my mum, dad and brother went to Trooping of the Colour. If you don’t know what it is then listen up!
Trooping of the Colour is a celebration of the Queen’s birthday - this year her 90th birthday. It was at Buckingham Palace/St. James Park. We saw hundreds of soldiers, guards, horses and royalty all passing by in a parade. There was a lot of music and drumming and even a band playing on horses. There was also a man playing two heavy drums on a horse!
The queen was in a carriage pulled by horses in the big parade. She was wearing bright green. It was emotional for my mum. She was crying. I was waving a flag.
At the end the royals went on a balcony. It was so cool and amazing because we got to see baby Charlotte and George and all the other royals. When they were on the balcony baby Charlotte waved to all the audience. A lot of jet planes flew past and one had red, white and blue smoke coming out the back. It was so fun. We all loved it.
After the parade, we went to the green grass by the palace to have some lunch. We ate pineapple lumps and watched the police going back and forth sending the crowd home. ‘What a great day’, we thought.
