The BFG Dream Jar Trail

Do you know Roald Dahl? Roald Dahl is a famous author who wrote The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory, James and the Giant Peach and many more. Roald Dahl was also an air force pilot, but if you think that was cool then listen up, he was also a SPY!
Now you know that I can tell you about the BFG Dream Jar Trail. If Roald Dahl was alive he would be 100 this year. To celebrate London madea dream jar trail. They have got  some very famous people like Simon Cowell and Sophie Dahl and more to make a jar with their dreams in it. We have seen some of the dream jars. Here they are…

Tonight we are going to go to Harrods and are going to see a dream jar with a real GOLD bar! Wow! I have never seen gold before.

Keep checking here as I will add more dream jars as I find them.

Horrible Histories

We recently went to see Horrible Histories at the Apollo Theatre.

There was a man and a woman who were acting as all the characters. It was about the horrible histories of Britain.

My favourite bit was when the man had put a costume on and was being a 9 year old king. It was really funny.

The show was very good but yuck. One of the horrible things was when they interviewed Guy Fawkes. He was going to blow up parliament.

Another horrible thing was when they dressed up as King Henry the 8th and his six wives. He didn't want all of the girl babies. He only wanted a boy baby. He kept on getting rid of his wives. Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived.

I thought Horrible Histories was a very cool show. It was a fun way to learn about history.

Bats

Yesterday, me and my family went to Hyde Park and we got to find some bats. We needed to go there at night-time because bats only come out at night. Bats are nocturnal which means they sleep in the day and are awake at night.
It was so much fun. We got to see some bats and learn about bats too.
You may think that bats are very big but they are not always. A common pipistrelle is about the size of a big moth. We saw lots of them.
Me and my brother got a bat detector and we got to hear bats. One bat sounded like 'smack-smack-smack' and the other one goes 'chip-chop-chip-chop'.
Bats eat bugs. We saw bats flying up and down, side to side trying to catch bugs.
The most interesting thing I learnt was that bats have got little arms and the wings join from the arms to the body.
If a bat is on the ground during the day it is probably sick and about to die. Bats don't usually sit on the ground because they cannot take off like a bird. They need to fly from a high up place.
I really loved learning about bats. I hope one day I get to do it again.

8 Easy Steps to Make a Morph

Morph is a character made out of clay that stars in many animations. We went to a workshop and learnt how to make one. The teacher was Jim Parkyn who makes the clay characters in Shaun the Sheep, Wallace & Gromit and Flushed Away plus lots of others.

I am going to teach you how to make a Morph in 8 easy steps.

You will need:
150g of orangey-browny clay (or white if you want to make Chas. Chas is a little bigger so you might need a little more)
small pieces of black and white clay for the eyes

Steps:
1. Roll the clay into a ball. Rub it in your hands to warm it up.

2. Shape it into a starfish.

3. Round one of the arms into a head.
4. Mould arms and legs.

5. Shape hands and feet.
6. Add eyes and a nose.

7. Smooth it out.

There you have it - you have made a Morph. Now you can get the Animate It! App and make your own animations.

Pete's Dragon

On Sunday, my family and I went to see the premiere of Pete’s Dragon. Pete’s Dragon is about a little boy named Pete who lives deep in the forest with a dragon. I will not say any more because I might spoil the movie for you. I thought it was a great movie. I want to go and see it again.

At the start they had a quiz to win a poster and more. We tried to win one but we didn’t.

Did you know that the movie is filmed in New Zealand? I think that is really cool.

After the movie we got to meet Bryce Dallas Howard. She is a famous actress who acts in a lot of movies like Jurassic World, Twilight, Spiderman and more. We did not get anything signed but she said to me and my brother, ‘Bye Sweeties!’ To me and my brother that means she is our friend.

After the movie and interview we left and went to catch some Pokemon. We hoped we would find a dragon of our own.

Designing a Pavilion

A few weeks ago we went to see the Serpentine Pavilion at Hyde Park. A pavilion is a place where you can go if it is raining or too sunny. It is a covered area and it is usually found in a park or a garden. This one even had a Harrods cafe in it.

When we went there we discovered that there was a competition to design a pavilion so I designed my own pavilion.

Looking at the photos on the website and looking what was in the recycle bag inspired my design. I used things in the recycle bag as well as sticks, string, plastic and beads.

Here are a few photos of my design.

Anyone can use my pavilion. They can use it for reading, writing, thinking, eating, talking and heaps of other things.

You might like to design your own pavilion and enter the competition too. Click here

See my design on the competition website here.
